ABOUT US
ABOUT US
The purpose of this organization is to recognize its founding honorary members: Evangelist Dr. Norma Chapman, Rosemary Kendrick (deceased), Lee Albert (deceased), Ethel Atkins (deceased), Delores Hollingshed, Barbara Tregre, Avian Wilson, and Mildred Harris(deceased).
The organization started with only eight members and grew to over forty members joining the ministry until Hurricane Katrina altered our lives in 2005. With resilience, we started again in 2019.
These Founding Members were friends who would meet every year to celebrate "To Be Friends," an annual gathering with friends who started in the year 1990 after the domestic violence tragedy shooting and survival of Dr. Norma Chapman, three years later, in the year 1993.
Visionary Dr. Chapman Founded "To Be Friends in Christ," which inspired them to give annual programs which supported local churches in the greater New Orleans and surrounding areas. They also gave annual Thanksgiving baskets to the senior citizens. During our Annual Programs, the "To Be Friends in Christ" march is done to raise money for local churches, and the proceeds provided support our cause.
Evangelist Dr. Norma Chapman was inspired in 2008 to write the novel "What Faith Can Do" based on a truly profound story that tells of her tragedy.
